Kentuckians for Medical Marijuana

Kentuckians for Medicinal Marijuana (KY4MM) is a registered 501(c)(4) non-profit organization working to legalize medicinal use of cannabis in KY. We are working to bring a better quality of life to patients, and untapping industry in the state of Kentucky.

Mission

KY4MM is dedicated to providing truthful research supported information to educate the general public, physicians, law enforcement, and elected officials at all levels of government about the medicinal values of cannabis. We want everyone to understand the facts so that the injustice that is prohibition can be righted. The greatest harm associated with cannabis is the prohibition itself.

History

KY4MM was founded on Jun 13, 2013 by Jaime Montalvo after facing the criminal ramifications due to his cultivation and use of cannabis in order to treat his multiple sclerosis. He faced years in prison, but most importantly he lost custody of his child. In its short existence KY4MM has built a following of patients and citizens alike from across the state of Kentucky. With the help of their dedicated volunteer staff it has gained the attention of legislators from a multitude of counties due to the crafting of HB 350 and SB 43.

During the 2014 legislative session KY4MM made multiple historical events in the state of Kentucky:

1st medical cannibis bill to be introduced into KY House of Representative
1st medical cannabis bill to have a hearing during KY General Assembly
1st medical cannabis bill to be passed out of committee favorably

Future

KY4MM is currently working to schedule interim meetings before various legislative committees. We will educate the state through the summer so that we may get this much needed legislation passed during the 2015 general assembly.

Our Mission

Our mission is to preserve the God given rights that are recognized in the constitutions of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the United States of America. We believe in the American principle of dual sovereignty and that preservation of Kentucky’s sovereignty is essential.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that the States are not an extension or branch of the Federal government and that it is the duty of those States to protect the rights of their Citizens. The Federal government is a result of the States creating and ratifying a Constitution, and is therefore an agent of the States. Our focus is to reestablish the government of the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a protector of the Citizens of Kentucky from an overreaching Federal government.

In order for Kentucky’s government to act responsibly in its duties to its Citizens we feel it is crucial that Citizens exercise their civic duties and responsibilities. We are committed to education on the issues and involvement in the governmental process. Focusing on legislation and the voting records is essential in holding our elected officials accountable. So we encourage involvement in the election process.

To accomplish this mission we must build coalitions of like minded individuals and organizations that are rooted in Liberty, Freedom, the Constitution, and Capitalistic ideals. The motto of the Commonwealth of Kentucky is “United We Stand, Divided We Fall.” Let us not fall but move forward toward restoration of our founding principles to provide a better future for our posterity.
